Penguins first round pick Joe Morrow has signed a three-year entry level contract. Morrow, picked 23rd overall by the Penguins in June, is a highly touted defenseman in the Western Hockey League.

While many were hoping the Penguins would take a chance on a scoring winger in this year’s draft, Morrow is a solid defenseman with an offensive flare. He was probably one of the lowest risk players at the end of the first round. That is not to say that Morrow doesn’t have any potential.
