Going undrafted does not mean the end of professional basketball for a prospect–either across seas or in the NBA. Gil Brown was one of three eligible Panthers to not hear his name called on draft night, but his journey to the Association is just beginning.
John Grupp of Trib Total Media reports that Brown has signed a contract to play in Germany.
The most important aspect of his deal is that there is a release allowing him to play for an NBA team if he is offered a contract. There has been interest in Brown from a number of organizations, including the Boston Celtics. Even in the NBA, few players are as athletic as the former Panther. His defensive skills, size, and agility alone are enough to land him a roster spot. Keep in mind that the Celtics have been one of the league’s best teams over the past five seasons. If he is not offered a deal with the historic franchise, there are plenty of lower class teams that could surely use a player of his caliber.
