Big Ten outlines possible payment plan for college athletes

Rarely are cheating or criminal-acts the sources of NCAA violations anymore. Today’s offenders are more likely to be reprimanded for making money off of their own fame. A confusing prohibition, considering that universities make millions based on their name alone.

John Gasaway of the Basketball Prospectus has an idea on how to legitimize the income of collegiate players.

Instead of allowing major conferences to pay the full cost of attendance, Gasaway suggests a more fair system–one in which players can make money for themselves.
