Steelers make roster moves

The sports front in Pittsburgh is pretty bare come the dead of July. The Pirates are sporting the worst run differential in the MLB, both Panther teams are in the off-season, and the Penguins are virtually done with their free agency moves. However this is movement on the Steelers front. On Thursday the Steelers signed tackle Adrian Jones and placed Willie Colon on the injured reserve. Despite sitting out last season Jones has accumulated 26 starts and appeared in 54 games over the course of his six year career. It is not unreasonable to assume that the Steelers signed Jones because of his ability to play right tackle, left tackle, or right guard. The six-time Super Bowl champions will be hurting on the offensive line once again. Many considered Colon to be the best starter on a line that has allowed 45+ starts for four consecutive seasons. Despite the poor line and suspended quarterback, linebacker James Farrior is predicting a comeback year for the Steelers and a personal re-emergence. Many experts such as Dave Marlin of Blecherreport.com are not so high on the Steelers and the NFL’s very own experts give their opinions on nfl.com.
